QUICK EXPLANATION OF AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM

The concept of American exceptionalism is not about rankings.  Its based on the fundamental principle that the people hold all power, rights, and freedoms and that any power that the government has is granted from the people.
Flowing from that is its constitutional system of government.

Distinguish this from the idea that the government holds power and grants people freedom and rights, which would have been the traditional way, say European monarchies and the democracies that morphed from them would have approached the subject.

In this regard American democracy is exceptional.  Now as far as how any perceived injustices have panned out throughout history, or whether or not America is the best country...well that is a misinterpretation of the term.
